Step 5

Step 5 is probably the most important step in the process. You need to select the proper diameter and wall thickness for the flagpole in your project. Click on the wind map above and select your project location in order to determine the wind zone that it resides in. Once that is determined, look through the drop down list to the left and select the proper pole.

Each choice has three corresponding numbers and letters to the right of them which represent the various wind speeds that the flagpole can handle. Always select a pole size that meets or exceeds your requirement.

U = Unflagged wind speed

N = Flagged wind speed with nylon flag

P = Flagged wind speed with polyester flag

For example 116U/85N/80P means the flagpole will meet the following conditions:

116 MPH UNFLAGGED wind speed

85 MPH with the recommended size NYLON flag

80 MPH with the recommended size POLYESTER flag

NOTE: All calculations are based on the NAAMM recommended flag size chart to the left. If other flag sizes are required, please contact us for more information.
